Map The Notes
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 26, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Map The Notes (the “Service”) collects, how we use it and the choices you have. The Service is operated by 1000 Feet Inc., 8 The Green, Dover, DE 19901, United States (“we”, “us”), which is responsible for your personal information. Contact us at info@1000feetabove.com.
1. Using the Service as a guest
Without an account, your boards, song title, settings and recordings are stored only in your browser (local storage and IndexedDB) and are not sent to us. They stay there until you delete them or clear your browser data. PDFs you save with “Print / Save PDF” are created by your browser on your own device.
2. What we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and a password, which is stored by our authentication provider in hashed form. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We create a profile with a display name based on that information.
Your songs and recordings
When you are signed in, we store the songs you create (titles, boards, marked notes, chord names and settings) and the audio recordings you make, so you can open them on any device.
Payments
If you subscribe to Map The Notes Pro, Stripe collects your payment details and billing address directly. We receive from Stripe a customer ID, your subscription plan and status, renewal dates, the country used for taxes and the email on the payment. We never see or store your full card number.
Microphone
The Service uses your microphone or audio interface only after you press Record and allow access in your browser. Audio is captured only while a recording is running. Guest recordings stay in your browser; signed-in recordings are uploaded to your account.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure providers receive technical information when you use the Service, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages requested and the time of the request. Error reports may be sent to our hosting provider so we can fix crashes.
3. How we use it
- to provide the Service: sign you in, save and sync your songs and recordings;
- to keep the Service secure and working, and to fix errors;
- to answer you when you contact us;
- to comply with legal obligations.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases are: the performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), our legitimate interests (security and fixing problems), your consent (microphone access, which you can withdraw in your browser settings) and legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Who processes your data
- Hosting and backend. The Service is hosted on Lovable, and accounts, songs and recordings are stored with its cloud backend (built on Supabase) and their infrastructure providers.
- Stripe. Stripe processes Pro payments and subscriptions under its own privacy policy, as an independent payment provider.
- Google. If you choose Google sign-in, Google processes that sign-in under its own privacy policy. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when it downloads them.
- Sound samples. Instrument sounds are downloaded from GitHub Pages (gleitz.github.io and smpldsnds.github.io), which receive your IP address when your browser fetches them. Your browser then keeps a cached copy.
- Learn Music Secrets. The link at the bottom of each page opens a separate website, also operated by 1000 Feet Inc.. It includes a tag showing you came from Map The Notes; nothing else is shared unless you click it.
- Authorities or others when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
5. Cookies and browser storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The Service stores in your browser: your sign-in session, your preferences (theme, note names, sound, audio input), guest boards and recordings, and cached sound samples. You can clear them in your browser settings at any time.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account, songs and recordings until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Deleted data may remain in backups for a limited period before it is overwritten. Technical logs are kept by our providers for the periods set in their own policies. Payment and invoice records are kept as long as tax and accounting laws require, even after a subscription ends.
7. Your rights
You can see, edit and delete your songs and recordings in the app, and print them or save them as a PDF. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict some processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have the right to know, delete and correct their personal information and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. To make a request, including deleting your account, email info@1000feetabove.com. We will answer within the time required by law. If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, these transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Each account can only read its own songs and recordings, and recordings are kept in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top of this page and give notice of significant changes where the law requires it.
